The long-awaited schedule for the league stage of IPL 2020, starting September 19, has been announced. As per the schedule, 24 IPL games will be played in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi and 12 in Sharjah.

After much deliberation, the schedule of this year’s Indian Premier League is finally out. The 13th edition of the IPL will begin with the marquee clash between last year’s finalists Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – arguably the two most popular teams of the IPL.

The extravaganza kicks off in Abu Dhabi on September 19, Saturday. The schedule for the playoffs is yet to be released, after the fixtures for 56 league games have been finalised.

As opposed to the regular start time of 8 pm IST, the night games this year will begin half an hour earlier, at 7:30 pm IST or 6:00 pm UAE time. On days when double headers are scheduled, the first match will begin at 3:30 pm IST or 2:00 pm UAE time.

A total of 10 days will see double headers, the first of which will be played on October 3. Each franchise will play a minimum of two afternoon games.

The fixtures have been spread across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. 24 matches will be played in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi and 12 in Sharjah.

The venue and dates for the playoff matches – Qualifier-1, Eliminator, Qualifier-2 and the Final (locked on 10 November 2020) – will be announced in due course.
